LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) -This weather system that held so much promise for rain and mountain snow has been a bust so far, but that’s because it’s still moving toward us.

We saw light flurries up at the ski resort early Sunday morning. Snow was also reported in Bishop, Goldfield and Tonopah.

The low is meandering toward us.

Our best chances for active weather will be Sunday night and overnight into late Monday morning.

The Winter Storm Warning for the Spring Mountains and the Winter Weather Advisory for the Sheep Range are still in effect but will expire 10 PM Monday much earlier than expected.

As this system moves east we’ll see the skies clear with a shortwave ridge moving in for Thursday and Friday.

Next weekend another Pacific system slides south.

Right now it looks like it won’t make it into southern Nevada.
