FIRST ALERT: Winter Storm Brings Widespread Impacts Sunday, Monday
Las Vegas has seen 195 days without measurable rainfall. The dry streak is currently set to be snapped, as the season’s first significant winter storm takes aim at the region on Sunday and Monday.
Mostly cloudy skies expected throughout the day on Saturday. There is a slight chance of late night showers on Saturday night, though Saturday is expected to be the drier day this weekend with highs in the mid 50s.
The cold storm moves in Sunday, increasing shower chances that will continue into Monday. Confidence is growing that this will bring measurable rainfall in the 0.10″ to 0.50″ range. With the long dry stretch, roads will be slick as this is the first significant rain we’ve seen in months.
With this being a cold storm, snow levels will be low; dropping between 2,000 and 4,000 feet Monday morning. This brings the potential for rain/snow mix showers in the Las Vegas Valley. Up in the mountains, 10 to 15 inches of new snow is forecast for Mt. Charleston.
The storm is forecast to move out Wednesday with milder weather returning later next week.
