FIRST ALERT- Cold Winter Storm Arrives Sunday
It’s been nearly 200 days since measurable rain fell at Reid Airport, but that dry streak is finally coming to an end. Our first significant winter storm of the season is set to arrive Sunday and Monday.
Friday will stay dry, with clouds increasing through the day. Highs will remain in the mid-50s.
Saturday brings mostly cloudy skies and a slight chance of evening showers. It will be the drier day of the weekend, with high temperatures still in the mid-50s.
The cold storm rolls in Sunday, bringing widespread showers that continue into Monday. Rainfall totals are expected to range from 0.10″ to 0.50″. With months of dry conditions, roads could be especially slick, so use caution.
This system will also bring colder air, dropping snow levels to between 2,000 and 4,000 feet by Monday morning. A rain/snow mix could even be possible in parts of the Las Vegas Valley, while Mt. Charleston is forecast to see 10 to 15 inches of fresh snow.
The storm is expected to clear out by Wednesday, with milder and drier weather returning for the second half of the week.
