LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - A body recovered in Nye County is believed to be a missing pilot.

Tuesday, Nye County officials believe Michael Martin’s remains were recovered from the Mount Jefferson area northeast of Round Mountain.

Heavy D Sparks Recovery out of Salt Lake City found the body at 11,300 feet. Nye County Emergency Management and the Nye County Sheriff’s Office coordinated the operation.

Emergency Management Director Scott Lewis says the crash was a non-survivable event. The aircraft was also recovered.

The body is being transported to Las Vegas for an autopsy.

The 65-year-old was reported missing on Jan. 6 by his family after not returning from a flight from the North Las Vegas Airport three days earlier.

Saturday, Jan. 18, a game warden located the aircraft crash site, but rugged terrain stalled recovery.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
