LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Clark County said late Thursday, fuel line service to southern Nevada impacted by Los Angeles-area wildfires would be restored sometime Friday.

“In working with California, a solution has been put in place which will power the Kinder Morgan fuel line into southern Nevada and fuel should start to flow into the valley in the next 12-24 hours. Clark County Office of Emergency Management remains engaged on this issue with regional and state partners. The public is encouraged to not panic buy at the pump,” the county said in a statement to FOX5. FOX5 also spoke to a Gas Buddy analyst who said there is no need for that.

“If motorists decide to descend on a station and everyone fills up, well then of course you’re going to see a station run out here and there,” asserted Patrick De Haan, Head of Petroleum Analysis for Gas Buddy. The deadly wildfires have disrupted power to the CALNEV pipeline which is more than 500 miles long and carries gasoline from refineries out of southern California.

“There are massive pumping stations that basically push that gasoline all the way from refineries in California to Las Vegas,” De Haan explained adding, “This is not going to be a situation where you wake up and gas prices have jumped a huge amount, not at all, because gasoline production is continuing.”

If you see any form of price gouging at the pump, you are encouraged to report it to the Nevada Attorney General’s Office.

Earlier in the day, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department also released a statement about fuel.

FOX5 also reached out to Kinder Morgan who says two fuel pipelines, SFFP West and CALNEV, have been shut down since 10:15 a.m. Thursday.

“The SFPP West and CALNEV pipelines remain shut down due to power outages in the area,” Kinder Morgan said. “We continue to monitor the situation and expect the lines to resume service once the power has been restored.”
