VIDEO: Coyotes and bobcat stroll through Las Vegas Valley backyard
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - A Henderson homeowner got quite the fright after her surveillance captured two coyotes and a bobcat strolling through her backyard.
The encounters were captured this week on Gloria Kelley’s home surveillance cameras. Kelley tells FOX5, she went to let her small dog outside (she never leaves them unattended), and her camera alerted her to the two coyote intruders. She kept her dog back and stayed inside.
An hour later, her camera system gave her another notice: a bobcat was sniffing around in the yard.
Kelley said, in her 25 years living in the area by Green Valley Parkway and Stephanie Street, she has never seen any coyotes or bobcats -- but in one night, she saw both.
The Nevada Department of Wildlife tells FOX5, the visit from various wildlife is not surprising, considering the community’s location near the McCullough Mountains.
FOX5 recently interviewed NDOW about “hazing” wildlife, whether it be a coyote or a bobcat.
“If we have animals coming into our community like a coyote or a fox or a bobcat, don’t do nothing. Do something --and by that, I mean hazing. What you need to do is honk your horn. Be loud. Let him know that ‘you’re not welcome here,” said Doug Nielsen of NDOW.
