Forecast Outlook - 08/09/2024
Thunderstorms continue to pop up through the afternoon and evening
Chances for afternoon and evening thunderstorms will continue through the weekend as monsoonal moisture continues to move up into Southern Nevada.
Last night, some parts of the far-east valley got a nice surprise, Rain! Nellis AFB seems to get the most rain at about 0.15 of an inch. Other east-side communities like Sunrise Manor and Lake Las Vegas got some measurable rain along with Laughlin overnight.
Today, atmospheric conditions will be similar to yesterday with thunderstorms first developing in the mountains and then could drift down into the desert. Humidity will remain high through the weekend along with above average temperatures. When you combine the humidity and the heat, it will feel quite sticky and uncomfortable outside.
Today we are expecting a high of 108 degrees with light winds except near Thunderstorms, where gusty winds will be likely.
Tomorrow, we have a better chance of Scattered Thunderstorms with the best chances up in the Spring Mountains. By Monday of next week, Dry air will move in from Southern California shutting down the monsoon at least for most of next week, bringing slightly cooler air to Southern Nevada.
