Toddler, 6 other adults injured in three-car crash in east Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Seven people, including a toddler, were injured in a three-car car in the east valley Monday night, police say.
According to Las Vegas Metro Police, the crash occurred at East Lake Mead Boulevard, west of Toiyabe Street, around 5:17 p.m. An initial investigation revealed that a Toyota Camry was traveling west on Lake Mead at a high speed, weaving between traffic. At the same time, a Lexus ES330 was preparing to make a left turn, west of Toiyabe, and a Dodge Challenge was traveling east, approaching Toiyabe.
Police say the crash occurred when the Toyota swerved right across two lanes into the center turn lane, striking the front of the Lexus. The Toyota was then redirected into eastbound travel lanes, where it hit the front of the Dodge.
Arriving medical crews transported all drivers and passengers in all three vehicles to UMC Trauma. Injuries among them ranged from minor to critical to serious, including one Toyota passenger identified as a 3-year-old boy.
Police add that the Toyota’s driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested for DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm, among other charges.
As of 6 a.m., eastbound lanes along Lake Mead Boulevard near Sloan Lane remain closed. Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
