How to help family impacted by deadly southwest Las Vegas fire
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Four bodies were recovered from a deadly southwest Las Vegas fire, and two people are being treated at the hospital.
The fire started early Thursday morning near Shelbourne and Jones. Firefighters arrived to a three-story home with fire coming from the second and third floors.
The heat pushed out firefighters and delayed search for victims.
At 4:22 a.m. that day, crews extinguished the fire. It was shortly after 6 p.m. that the bodies were recovered.
Clark County said Las Vegas Valley residents asked how they could help.
The Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation is now collecting donations for the family.
“When there’s any type of death in a fire, especially 4 deaths in a single fire, that’s shocking, that’s tragic. It’s a tough thing for any family to go through,” said Erlantz Muguira, President of the Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation.
You can donate here through Nov. 24, and 100% of donations will go to the family impacted by the fire.
“Things to get somebody back on their feet. Toiletries, clothing, a place to stay, funeral expenses and helping the family go through counseling. Those types of things,” said Muguira. “Their life has become completely unstable, so we’re just here to help out in any way possible.”
The Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation consists of active fire department personnel providing support to victims of fires & catastrophic events.
Clark County says the cause of the fire is undetermined, and the identities of the victims are still pending.
