Eight Las Vegas apartments unlivable after fire in east Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - An apartment fire Monday afternoon in east Las Vegas leaves eight units unlivable.
Clark County Fire Department told FOX5 that a fire spread along the roof line of an apartment near Flamingo Road and Eastern Avenue around 4:30 p.m.

CCFD reports no injuries to residents or firefighters at the Villa Del Sol Apartments located at 4255 Channel 10 Drive.
The American Red Cross came out to assist people who may need their help. Residents like Liana Schwartz. Schwartz grabbed what she could, like her two cats and a few blankets because she knew it was freezing outside.
“I didn’t even have time to put on a pair of pants,” Schwartz said.
That’s something Lowell Smith with the Red Cross has heard before.
“You’re talking when you have a fire, you have sometimes less than two minutes to get out for your life, and everything you work for could be gone,” Smith said.
Luckily, none of the families or pets in those affected units at the Villa Del Sol apartments were injured or taken to the hospital because of the fire.
The damage to the inside of those units is what has people packing up.
“There is a lot of water damage in our apartment. A great deal of our belongings are destroyed,” Schwartz.
Clark County Fire Department Battalion Chief, Joseph Page tells FOX5 how a small fire, made a big impact as his team looks into the cause.
“They located a small fire that appeared to be in the bathroom area. But it’s still under investigation,” Page said. “Just confirming that.”
Even though everyone is ok physically, Smith knows events like this can take a toll on people mentally.
“It’s just the trauma. The impact of them. You know, they work so hard for everything,” Smith said.
Trauma all over again for Schwartz, who’s house caught on fire when she was a teenager.
“This is not looking good right now. I’m hoping to see a light at the end of the tunnel, but right now, I don’t see it,” Schwartz said.
FOX5 has learned the Red Cross stepped in to help 14 people.
