Report: Beloved Las Vegas Strip casino may get sold
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Circus Circus could be sold soon.
Owner Phil Ruffin told Forbes that there’s interest from buyers to sell the Las Vegas Strip property. He said the hotel and casino is worth $5 billion.
MGM sold Circus Circus to Ruffin in 2019. The sale was worth $825 million that year.
He also owns Treasure Island Hotel and Casino.
Circus Circus is known for its family-friendly atmosphere with the Adventuredome, The Midway and live circus acts.
One father was visiting the hotel with his family on Monday. He hopes if changes are on the way, the property will remain accommodating for children.
“I would like to see it be turned into something for the kids, if it would be turned into a theme park, or some sort of community center,” Seth Porter says. “We need someplace for the kids to go on the Strip.”
Porter says he first visited Circus Circus as a child. Now, he brings his family every year.
“It’s the only place that we found that’s more dedicated to children, having an environment for them to have fun and enjoy themselves,” Porter says.
Las Vegas local Michael Burnam was visiting the hotel on Monday, too. He says he decided to visit after hearing about the potential sale.
“I love Vegas history, and hearing that this is possibly going to close and maybe turn into something else, I wanted to take a walk around and see everything,” Burnam says.
Ruffin told Forbes he plans to buy another property on the Strip with the Circus Circus sale.
He also told Forbes the property is valuable for the land. The hotel and casino sits on 102 acres is close to Sahara Avenue and I-15.
FOX5 reached out to Circus Circus for a statement on the Forbes article and has not heard back.
