California man died in fatal I-15 crash north of Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - A 66-year-old California man died on I-15 north of Las Vegas, police say.

Nevada State Police said a crash happened the afternoon of Sunday, Feb. 2 on southbound I-15 and mile marker 102. Police say this is 54 miles north of downtown Las Vegas.

Police say Rick Anthony Lopiccolo of Pinon Hills, California, drove a 2008 Ford Ranger pickup truck in the far left travel lane. He failed to stay in the lane and traveled into the center median, hitting a paddle marker.

Police say the driver steered right and lost control. The driver was ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene.

The investigation is being conducted by the Nevada Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit. 2025 Year to date: The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Region One (South) has investigated 8 fatal crashes resulting in 8 fatalities.
