90-year-old woman dies after northwest Las Vegas wrong-way crash

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Las Vegas police learned that a driver involved in a crash on Christmas has died.
Las Vegas Metro police said the crash happened early Christmas morning at Durango and Lone Mountain. The crash involved two vehicles, a Hyundai and Chevrolet.
Police said a 90-year-old woman drove a Camaro northbound on Durango, south of Lone Mountain in the northbound travel lanes. A 35-year-old man was driving the wrong way, southbound on Durango in the northbound travel lanes.
A head-on crash happened.
Medical arrived and transported the woman to UMC. The driver of the Hyundai remained at the scene and was arrested on DUI charges.
LVMPD’s Fatal Detail team did not respond.
On Tuesday, police learned that the woman died at Nathan Adelson Hospice.
“Due to the death occurring outside of the State of Nevada’s thirty-day reportable limit, the death will not be counted as a traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for 2024,” police said. “This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.”
