UNLV Lady Rebels go to Utah State for lone meeting

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV Lady Rebels are back on the road for a midweek Mountain West contest visiting Utah State on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 5 p.m. PT/6 p.m. PT. This is the only conference meeting between the two programs this season.
ABOUT UTAH STATE: UNLV holds the all-time record 32-4 over Utah State and have won the last 14 meetings. In the La Rocque era, the Lady Rebels are 8-0 against the Aggies. In last seasons two meetings, the Scarlet & Gray scored 100+ points over Utah State. The Aggies head into Wednesday’s contest with a 2-19 overall record and a 1-8 MW record. Utah State’s lone conference victory came against San Jose State on Jan. 25, 2025 in San Jose. Cheyenne Stubbs is the leading scorer for the Aggies, averaging 15.2 points per game. Jamisyn Heaton is the leading rebounder for Utah State, bringing down 5.8 boards per game.

SQUAD LEADERS: UNLV currently has three players scoring in double-figures and are led by Amarachi Kimpson with 13.9 points per game. Kiara Jackson is the second leading scorer who is averaging 12.5 points per game and leads the Lady Rebels in assists with 5.2 per game and field goals made with 5.0 per game. Alyssa Brown leads the squad in rebounds, bringing down 7.7 per game. Meadow Roland is second for the Lady Rebels in rebounds with 6.3 per game.
LAST TIME ON THE COURT: The UNLV Lady Rebels are back in the win column after securing a 68-59 victory over in-state rival UNR on Saturday afternoon in a sold-out Cox Pavilion. This game is part of the Silver State Series presented by America First. UNLV and UNR will meet again in two weeks in Reno. Meadow Roland led the Scarlet & Gray with a career-high 17 points. Roland came off the bench and shot 7-for-9 from the field and was perfect from the three (1-for-1) and the free throw line (2-for-2). Roland also led UNLV in rebounds with nine. Kiara Jackson notched her first career game with a double-double in points and assists with 12 points and a career-high 11 assists. Jackson dished nine assists in just the first half. Alyssa Brown also had 12 points and brought down eight rebounds.
THREE-PEAT LAST SEASON: The Lady Rebels have continued to bring the heat last season, which culminated with a third consecutive Mountain West Regular Season and Tournament Titles. UNLV became the first program in MW history to claim both titles in three straight seasons. The Scarlet & Gray earned its third automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, a first in both program and league history. The Lady Rebels finished the season only one of two squads to have two (South Carolina) straight seasons with 30 wins. UNLV earned its highest ranking in both the AP and Coaches Poll coming in at No. 20 and No. 19. The Lady Rebels appeared in the Top-25 eight times this season and came into the season receiving votes for the first time in 19 years. UNLV claimed the MW’s Player of the Year in Desi-Rae Young (All-MW Team and All-Defensive Team), and Sixth and Freshman of the Year with Amarachi Kimspon (All-MW Team honorable mention and All-Freshman MW Team). Kiara Jackson earned All-MW team accolades and Alyssa Brown was named MW Tournament MVP.
WHAT UP SQUAD: The Lady Rebels return 10 of the 14 players from its 2024 championship squad, including two starters and Mountain West Sixth Player and Freshman of the Year Amarachi Kimpson. UNLV added two freshmen guards Teagan Colvin and Elli Guiney, and junior transfer Aaliyah Alexander from Eastern Washington.
UP NEXT: UNLV will come back to Las Vegas to host New Mexico on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m.
