North Las Vegas officer killed in shootout with suspect
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - North Las Vegas police confirm an officer has passed away following an officer-involved shooting.
Police responded to reports of an individual who was armed with a handgun Tuesday afternoon near Lone Mountain and Camino Al Norte.
The officer located the suspect and delivered commands. The suspect approached the officer and gunfire was exchanged.
Officials report the officer was shot multiple times and taken to UMC.
Despite life saving efforts the officer passed away.
“It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of one of North Las Vegas’ finest,” said Chief of Police Jacqueline Gravatt. “Police officers choose this line of work because they want to protect and serve the community, knowing the risks and challenges that come with the badge. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the officer’s family, friends and his brotherhood in blue.”

The suspect was also taken to the hospital where they later died.
Governor Joe Lombardo posted on X about the shooting. “Please join me in praying for this officer and their family.”
North Las Vegas Police Department shared a statement on social media.
NLVPD report this is the first officer-involved shooting of 2025.
