UNLV’s Girls and Company bring home first place from nationals in Florida

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - A big congratulations to the Rebel Girls and Company who just won the UCA Division I-A College National Championship.

UNLV’s co-ed dance team took home first place in two of the three categories.

The team traveled to Orlando, Florida for the Universal Dance Associations' college nationals.

Where they cleaned house and won the hip hop and game day categories.

We spoke with the champs about their win and what it was like to prepare for this big competition.

“It is a huge deal. It is a huge deal to our program and to our community here. We as a spirit squad, a lot of our time goes to supporting other athletics here and we really enjoy doing that. We take it really seriously so when we get to go perform game day in Orlando and compete it, its really special to us,” said Taryn Encinas, UNLV Dancer.

The UNLV Rebel Girls and Company say they will keep training and finish out the rest of the basketball season.

Then prepare for their upcoming auditions in March.
