LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Las Vegas Metro police confirmed five people were arrested on Monday evening during a east Valley protest.

Officers responded to reports of a planned protest around 4 p.m. near East Charleston Boulevard and Lamb Boulevard.

LVMPD report resources were assembled to ensure a peaceful protest and remained off the roadway.

The gathering grew to about 500 people with multiple individuals who ran into the intersection causing police to shutdown traffic.

Police say once the protesters actions were deemed unlawful additional officers responded to the scene.

The crowd was told to disperse in English and Spanish, but protesters ignored those orders.

Officials reported several individuals who became disruptive were arrested. Protesters then began throwing rocks and bottles at officers.

Police formed a line and continued to share their dispersal message in English and Spanish.

5 people were charged with various charges, including one arrested for attempting to hit officers with a motor vehicle, and a juvenile arrested for pointing a firearm at an officer.

No officers were injured.

According to reports two police vehicles were damaged.
