A Spokesperson for Harry Reid Airport says parts of Terminal 1 and 3 lost power. Both terminals were restored just over an hour after the outages.
Tuesday morning, NV Energy Crews worked to repair the substation, near Polaris Avenue and Russell Road.
A spokesperson for NV Energy said in a statement, “NV Energy believes the copper theft on Monday ultimately damaged several pieces of equipment which led to the outage in our community.”
Metro Police say their investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
FOX5 has requested the full police report.
One nearby business says they’ve also been hit recently by copper wire thieves.
A sign posted on NV Energy’s substation reads, “this facility uses copper coated steel conductors, no scrap value.”

FOX5 asked NV Energy if the sign was posted in response to previous copper wire thefts, and if they have plans to increase security at the substation.
A NV Energy Spokesperson said in a statement, “We take the safety and security of our infrastructure seriously and, as always, we will look at this incident for any changes that could be made to make our facilities more secure.”
