Man beating a woman on camera was fatally shot by off-duty Las Vegas police officer
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Las Vegas police shared new details and video showing the moment an off-duty police officer fatally shot a man fighting a woman.
Officials said it happened near Boulder City High School on Friday, Jan. 24 involving an off-duty officer and his wife outside their home.
LVMPD said around 9:16 a.m., Boulder City Police received a 911 call with an open line where fighting could be heard in the background. A woman’s voice then explained her husband was in the front yard of their home armed with a gun.
Shots were fired shortly after.
The off-duty officer was later identified as 48-year-old Cesar Ibarra.
Officer Ibarra spotted a man attacking a woman. He was later identified as 45-year-old Jeremiah Boshard. Ibarra identified himself to the suspect as a Las Vegas police officer.
Screaming and a dog barking can be heard in video surveillance. In another video obtained by Metro, Boshard can be seen hitting a woman multiple times.
The victim suffered cuts and bruises to her lips, swelling to her head, and strangulation marks around her neck.
Police say Boshard followed the officer to the front yard where his wife and the female were located.
Boshard slammed his head into a car, which prompted officer Ibarra’s wife to grab a firearm. Boshard began choking Ibarra, the officer got free and drew his firearm.
The couple is heard in cell phone video captured by someone walking by instructing Boshard to stand back. Boshard advanced toward the group and the couple fired their guns.

LVMPD say two rounds were fired.
According to police, if Boshard survived he would have faced charges related to murder and battery on a protected person.
Officials say while officer Ibarra was off-duty, he identified himself as law enforcement and acted as so. This prompted Metro to investigate the incident as a police shooting.
This marks the first officer-involved shooting of 2025.
